A dog can be your best friend when it comes to home security.
Burglar alarms are not the only reason for the existence of a security at home. There are plenty of other things you can install in your home to help stop a thief from gaining entry – and many of them are very simple and inexpensive.
The key is to secure the potential entry points. This means that the doors should be a strong, robust (definitely not plastic or glass) be properly secured to the hinges and have tamper-proof locks. Ideally, you should have an additional safety lock is put on the night, made of very strong metal.
The windows should be made of tempered glass, preferably with double glazing, so it is almost impossible to break. Although window locks are relatively rare, largely to help with security, and you should consider installing them. Small dogs are not so great for this because they generally are not afraid – something like a big German shepherd that works best, not only for its size but for its strong guard instincts that make them hostile to foreigners.
